Do you want to be a teacher, an occupational therapist, an equestrian, or a vet when you grow up? If so then you may want to go to the University of Findlay! Education, OT, equestrian studies, and pre-vet programs are just a few of the many great programs at the University of Findlay - and UF, as it is affectionally known, has been around a long time!

 

Findlay College was founded in 1882, with classes beginning in 1886 with 70 students on Old Main’s third floor. It was originally founded by Churches of God, and College Church of God was founded on-campus in 1888. Findlay College became University of Findlay in 1989 and adopted the Oilers nickname in 1937, inspired by the hardworking crews who were part of the Gas Boom in the late 1800s (find the Great Karg Well to learn more!). In 2001 the University formally adopted Derrick the Oiler, reflected the grit, toughness, and determination associated with Findlay’s oil field roots, from a Design the Mascot” contest!

The Griffith Memorial Arch is one of the most beloved landmarks at the University of Findlay. It was built in 1923 in honor of a former student named Caddie Griffith, and for more than 100 years it has served as a special gateway to campus. Every fall, new students walk through the Arch at the start of their first year, cheered on by teachers and staff. According to a long-held campus tradition, students do not walk back through the Arch until graduation day, when passing through it one final time marks the end of their college journey and the beginning of the next chapter of their lives. 

The University of Findlay is home to students from around the world, and welcomes the community to many events year-round.
