The bald eagle is one of the most powerful symbols in American history, chosen as the national bird of the United States in 1782 it has represented American strength and freedom ever since. On this mural it represents Hancock County’s parks, many that are home to once-endangered bald eagles.

 

There are over 60 parks, playgrounds, and nature trails in Hancock County! Most are maintained by Hancock Park District, which has been our area’s main outdoor recreation agency, but there are several City of Findlay parks and village parks as well, plus there are privately maintained parks too…like Brucklacher Memorial Park, where the Hancock History Mural is located!

 

Through the years the parks in Hancock County have changed a lot. Today, there is a little something for everyone – trails for people to enjoy walking on, bike trails that connect one side of the county to the other, the Blanchard River Water trail for those who want to paddle, playgrounds for all ages and abilities, picnic spots, sport fields, and more.
