The Ohio state flag is one of the most unique flags in the entire country. Unlike the rectangular flags of every other state, Ohio's flag has a special swallowtail shape with a pointed cutout on one end. It was designed by architect John Eisemann and officially adopted in 1902. 

 

The flag features a large red and white circle on a blue triangle, which represents the O in Ohio, as well as stripes of red and white. The 17 stars on the flag are also meaningful: 13 represent the original colonies, and the remaining 4 bring the total to 17, marking Ohio as the 17th state admitted to the Union in 1803. Ohioans take great pride in their one-of-a-kind flag, which has flown as a symbol of the state's history and spirit for well over a century.
